Leider ohne deutsche Beteiligung fand bei der WSOP im Rio Hotel in der Nacht das Finale beim $3.000 6-Max Pot Limit Omaha Event statt. Zuvor verpassten Christopher Frank, Konstantin Bücherl, Bernhard Haider und auch Sergej Barbarez, die bei dem Turnier alle in den Geldrängen landeten, einen Platz unter den letzten 14 Spielern des Turniers. Am längsten von den genannten vier Spielern hielt der Ex-Fussballprofi Sergej Barbarez durch, der erst auf Platz 21 seinen Stuhl aufgeben musste.
Als Chipleader kehrte der Russe Viatcheslav Ortynskiy zurück an die Tische und brachte diese Führung auch sicher bis ins Ziel. Dabei ließ der russische PLO-Spezialist bekannte Größen wie Randy Ohel, Sean Winter und den Australier Jeff Rossiter hinter sich. Neben seinem ersten WSOP Bracelet kassierte Ortynskiy die Siegprämie von $344.327, womit der Russe seine Live Turnier-Gewinne jetzt auf über $1 Million anhäufen konnte.
