Richtig gut besucht war die WSOP Circuit im australischen Sydney, als deren krönender Abschluss das AU$2.200 Main Event auf dem Programm stand.
1.067 Spieler nahmen daran teil und sorgten damit für einen Preisgeldtopf von mehr als beachtlichen AU$2,134 Millionen.
Im Feld befanden sich vor allem einheimische Spieler, aber mit Martin Finger war auch ein Deutscher dabei.
Nach seinem zweiten Platz bei den Highrollern landete der Bracelet-Gewinner zwar erneut im Geld, musste sich aber mit Platz 57 und knapp AU$6.000 Preisgeld begnügen.
Den Sieg holte sich der Australier Michael Kanaan, der in der letzten Hand des Turniers Michael „Popsy“ Fraser mit AK gegen AT dominierte und die Oberhand behielt.
Im Siegerinterview äußerte sich Kanaan durchaus selbstkritisch: „Ich habe mich vor allem darauf konzentriert, diszipliniert zu bleiben. Zuletzt hatte ich viele Probleme, weil ich meinen Stack immer wieder durch schlechte Entscheidungen weggeschmissen habe. Ich habe daran gearbeitet, am Tisch gelassen zu bleiben und jedes Mal die beste Entscheidung zu treffen.“
