Im Rio All-Suite Hotel und Casino in Las Vegas stand am Donnerstag die erste Runde des WSOP $3.000 Shootout Events auf dem Programm. 363 Starter, darunter eine große Anzahl gestandener Profis, ließen sich den Buy-In kosten und versuchten im SNG-Format ihren Tisch zu gewinnen, um in die nächste Runde einzuziehen. Jeder der seinen Tisch gewinnen konnte, hat bereits den Min-Cash von $6.302 erreicht. Im Preispool liegen insgesamt $890.100, wovon $226.218 für den späteren Sieger reserviert sind.
Genau 50 Tische wurden an Tag 1 gespielt. Für die siegreichen Spieler geht es heute 5-Handed an zehn Tischen weiter. Noch im Rennen um das Shootout-Bracelet sind unter anderem Phil Hellmuth, Joe McKeehen, Eli Elezra, Chris Moorman, Adam Owen, Alexander Lynskey, Joe Cada und Kenny Hallaert.
Von den deutschsprachigen Startern schafften Jan-Eric Schwippert, Arne Ruge, Ismael Bojang und Guiseppe Pantaleo den Sprung in die zweite Runde.
