Am 6. März werden die Global Poker Awards in den PokerGo Studios in Las Vegas vergeben. Insgesamt gibt es 25 Trophäen zu gewinnen und die Nominierten bilden einen internationalen Mix aus 12 Nationen. Darunter befinden sich auch 16 ehemalige Gewinner.
Mit vier Nominierungen ist Content-Producer Joey Ingram der heißeste Anwärter auf mindestens eine Trophäe. Seine unerbittliche Hingabe zur Aufklärung des Mike Postle Falls aus den Stones Live Cash Games brachte ihm die Nominierung in der Kategorie „Media Content: Video“ ein. Zusätzlich ist er noch in den Kategorien „Podcast of the Year“, „Journalist of the Year“ und den Zuschauerpreis „Poker Personality of the Year“, für den ihr hier abstimmen könnt, nominiert.
Mit drei Nominierungen ist wieder einmal Lance Bradley vertreten. Er tritt an in den Kategorien „Journalist of the Year“, „Media Content: Written“ und zusammen mit Donnie Peters für den „Podcast of the Year“.
Als einziger Deutscher ist Hossein Ensan für seine überragende Performance beim World Series of Poker Main Event 2019 nominiert, welches er auch zu seinen Gunsten entscheiden konnte. Er tritt an in der Kategorie „Final Table Performance of the Year“ und muss sich Alex Foxen (WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic), Phillip Hui (WSOP Poker Players Championship) und Bryn Kenney (Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro) stellen.
Besonders spannend ist die Kategorie „Players Choice for Toughest Opponent“. Hierbei durfte die GPI Top 100 ihre Stimme abgeben an den gefürchtetsten Spieler am Tisch. Unter die besten vier sind Michael Addamo (AUS), Kahle Burns (AUS), Stephen Chidwick (UK) und Ali Imsirovic (BIH) gekommen.
Zu dem Spieler-Award gesellen sich noch zwei Publikumspreise. Denn sowohl die „Poker Personality of the Year“, als auch die „Hand of the Year“ stehen zum allgemeinen Voting offen.
