Das $5.300 Main Event der PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus ist entschieden.
Sieben Spieler durften am Schlusstag ins Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino zurückkehren und den ersten Sieger des neu eingeführten Tourstopps ermitteln.
Mit dabei war mit Yannick Schumacher auch ein deutschsprachiger Spieler, doch die Hoffnung, nach längerer Zeit mal wieder einen DACH-Erfolg zu bejubeln, erfüllte sich nicht.
Nach gutem Start wurde dem Wahl-Österreicher quasi der Stecker gezogen und sein Stack wurde immer kleiner.
Die letzten Chips landeten mit AQ gegen JJ des Türken Halil Tsyurek in der Mitte und das Board brachte leider keine Hilfe.

Mit $275.425 Preisgeld landete Schumacher seinen größten Live-Cash, kann also dennoch sehr zufrieden sein.
Den Turniersieg machten am Ende der Niederländer Gilles Simon und der Italiener Dato unter sich aus.
Während Dato das Feld am Schlusstag von hinten aufrollte, hatte der bekannte Streamer schon vor dem Finale auf Platz 1 gelegen.
Obwohl der Italiener vor dem Heads-Up klar in Führung lag, dauerte es nicht lange, bis Simon das Blatt gewendet hatte.
In der letzten Hand des Turniers traf Simon mit K8 Top Pair, während Dato mit AJ vergeblich auf einen Treffer wartete.
Die märchenhafte Pokerkarriere von Simon, der online mit dem Nickname „TaxationisTheft“ spielt, erreichte damit ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt. Vor vier Jahren hatte er noch auf Twitch $10-Turniere kommentiert und sich als Gewinner des PokerStars-Wettbewerbs „Dare to stream“ einen Platinum Pass gesichert.
Nun holte er gegen 1.319 gestandene Profis seinen ersten EPT-Titel und ein Preisgeld von $1,042 Millionen!
